It was originally released on the ZX-81, and later for the ZX- Spectrum. The game is credited to Simon Wadsworth, but I haven't seen confirmation of this. This was one of the first text adventures I played. I was surprised to find there wasn't a port, so decided to rectify that as a project for warming up my Inform skills. It's not a particularly good game, but of interest historically, or perhaps nostalgically. The goal of this port is to let people experience one of the earliest UK adventures. I have no plans to materially change the game, but improvements in interaction are fair game (the original supported 'noun verb' only, and in many places 'use ' is the right action). Suggestions and bug reports are very welcome. Neil Bowers neil@bowers.com >betaabout That's not a verb I recognise. >betacomp This version of Planet of Death is for use in the 2004 Beta-Test Competition. Rather than submit games to this comp, entrants beta-test this game and submit a bug report as their entry. More information on the comp can be found at: http://www.strangebreezes.com/if/comps/beta2004/ Entries are judged on four criteria: 1. Organization. How well are the bugs categorized? 2. Clarity. Is each bug clearly explained and reproducible? 3. Thoroughness. How many bugs does the tester find and report? 4. Ability to criticize. Including game design and porting issues. Entries (bug and comment reports) are to be submitted to Jess Knoch at jessicaknoch@mindspring.com by 11:59 pm EST on September 4, 2004 (which is also 12:59 am EDT on September 5, 2004). Preferred format is .txt; however, .doc files are also accepted. For any other format or if you have any questions about the Beta Competition, please e-mail jessicaknoch@mindspring.com >l Mountain Plateau You are on a mountain plateau. It was originally released on the ZX-81, and later for the ZX-Spectrum.
