| When I originally
went to see this movie, I thought I would love the swordplay and the
fight scenes. I'm into that kind of movie. So when the
entire first half was made up of strange happenings, prison time, and
not much sword fighting you would think I was disappointed. But
no!!!! It was a fantastic film which did NOT deal with good vs
evil or any of the common movie themes of fantasy flicks. This was
all about one mans desire for revenge, and the great lengths he will go
to get that revenge!
The swordplay later in the movie is good, the costumes and sets are fantastic, but the drama that is played out is what makes this a movie worth watching. The drama of a man who finds himself in a position to forget his past, start over in a new life, and he can't choose that because of the demons of that past. Excellent movie, a must see for most! Reviewed by Carl K Also try the book, you do have to read but it makes for a good read after you've seen the movie!
