Weezer's fourth album, Maladroit, came just a year after their "Green CD" hit the shelves, but the creative juices were still flowing. Weezer found their way back to the spotlight with songs like "Dope Nose" (which, like "Hash Pipe", has nothing to do with drugs...so don't worry moms and dads out there) and "Keep Fishin". If you were a fan of Weezer in the "Blue Album" days, this album is a refreshing return to the style they used to play with, but has a slight overtone of the "Green Album" to keep the newer, less "Weezerly experienced" fans happy. While I don't believe Maladroit rivals the "Blue Album" as Weezer's best album, it is very close to being Weezer's best to date. Funny music videos have also always been a part of Weezer's arsenal, and they didn't disappoint with Maladroit. "Dope Nose" featured a group of motorcycle riding Japanese people in funny clothes throughout the video, and "Keep Fishin" featured Weezer with many of "the Muppets", including Kermit the Frog, Ms. Piggy, Fozzy Bear, the Chef, and even the two critiquing old men in the balcony who exclaim, at the end of the video, "They're not half bad...THEY'RE ALL BAD!" Don't listen to them, they're socks...buy Maladroit in a record store near you! ~Weezer Ben http://www.geocities.com/weezerfan2003 |
